Both of these species declared extinct in the wild after non-native predators introduced to their home islands. They survived only in the care of zoos. ZSL is breeding Socorro doves at London Zoo. Part of an international initiative to return them to their native habitat. While a ZSL-led collaboration has successfully introduced zoo-bred siheks to a new home. There they are breeding in the wild for the first time in 40 years.
